Capital Celluloid 2019 - Day 266: Mon Sep 23

The Rebel (Day, 1961): Prince Charles Cinema, 6.15pm

The new digital restoration of this underrated British comedy will be introduced by Paul Merton.

Anthony Hancock, a self-taught artist with an enthusiasm that far exceeds any ability, throws in his monotonous office job to live the dream. His genius unappreciated by the local peasantry he decides there's only one place for his talents to flower – amongst the beatniks and bohemians of Paris! This classic satire on middle-class pretensions and bohemian artiness has been painstakingly restored in High Definition from the original camera negative by the award-winning restoration team at Network Distributing.

Here (and above) is the trailer.
