Lucio Fulci's Gates of Hell Trilogy: Prince Charles Cinema, 7pm
City of the Living Dead (1980); The Beyond (1981) & The House by the Cemetery (1981)
Time Out review: Outside the arthouse, horror is the only cinematic genre where pure surrealism is not only acceptable but expected - and there are few more gripping examples than Lucio Fulci's jaw-dropping trilogy of flesh-shredding, mind-melting horror classics City of the Living Dead, The Beyond and The House by the Cemetery. Faces melt inexplicably, tarantulas rip out human tongues, zombies rise from the grave and eyes are repeatedly torn out. The result is more accurately nightmarish than almost any other horror series.
Here is the trailer for City of the Living Dead.
