Waller's Last Trip (Wagner, 1988): Goethe Institute, 7pm
This film is shown as part of the series More or Less By the Book.
Here is the Goethe Institute introdcution:
In his much acclaimed 1988 debut film, Christian Wagner follows track
inspector Waller on his final walk along the railway track he has
overseen for most of his life. Passing through the rural landscape of
the Bavarian Allgäu, the old man is haunted by scenes of the past, which
are conveyed with a great naturalness and a sense of local character.
The film is based on the 1985 novel, one of several magical realist
books set in the Allgäu by Gerhard Köpf.
