Capital Celluloid 2019 - Day 77: Mon Mar 18

From The Cloud to the Resistance (Straub/Huillet, 1979): BFI Southbank, NFT2, 6.15pm

This screening is part of the Jean-Marie Straub and Daniele Huillet season at BFI Southbank (you can find all the details here).

Chicago Reader review:
A 1979 film by Jean-Marie Straub and Daniele Huillet, whose work is austere, rigorous, ideologically aggressive, and certainly not for everyone's taste. Yet there are few filmmakers today who are so actively engaged in the battle of form and content. This work, made in Italy, intersperses scenes from Greek mythology amid a tale of peasant revolt. With Olympia Carlisi; based on texts by Cesare Pavese.
