Adapting his own novel, Richard Matheson’s haunted house classic has a
dying multi-millionaire commission a team of paranormal experts to
investigate the titular Hell House, seeking to answer the perennial
question about survival after death. Director JohnHough maintains a menacing
mood throughout with his use of jarring camera angles, all enhanced by
Brian Hodgson and Delia Derbyshire’s unsettling electronic score.
