Gothic mansions, high octane murder, sexual intrigue and sibling envy
form a tumultuous whirlwind in Gavaldón’s breakout hit, a flamboyant
pre-cursor to the 1963 Bette Davis vehicle Dead Ringer. Assuming two
roles as the evil twin and her also-evil counterpart, The incandescent
Dolores Del Río brings both glamour and downtrodden resentment to the
story of a desperate manicurist who abandons her own life to assume that
of her sister.
