Chicago Reader review:
Two of Hollywood’s smarmier talents, director Garson Kanin and
screenwriter Norman Krasna, teamed up for this rib-nudging 1939
screwball comedy, featuring Ginger Rogers as a department-store clerk
who takes in an abandoned baby and prompts a lot of gossip around the
lingerie counter. David Niven, the boss’s son, is drafted as the
suspected father; many unpleasant complications follow.
